Harvest Run and Dinner - 2008

Harvest Run and Dinner - 2009
A group of three members from the Bethany Lutheran Brethren Church started a committee in 2005 to put on a road race with the intention of it to always reach out to the community.   If they are aware of a specific need, they consider it as a committee and make a decision.   Proceeds have gone to Bonnie Silkey after the loss of her husband, the family of Dave Skaret as he was going through cancer treatment, and most recently Cindy James following the loss of her daughter.   The group is particularly mindful of the cost and affect that cancer has on families, and that seems to be one of their main priorities.

Runners of all ages are arriving for the start of the scheduled 3 PM run.   Going inside, they sign up for the benefit run and the first 50 get free T-shirts.

A runner checks out the table of baked goodies that will be given out as prizes.   Pastor Ole from Bethany Luther Brethren Church offers a prayer for all.

“BANG,” and the runners (and walkers) are off for the 5K Road Race.   The church kitchen is busy afterwards providing a Lasagna and Ziti dinner.

Servers manned the buffet line in anticipation of the hungry crowd.   The host for the race, the Bethany Church, has an almost full hall of guests.
