Fall, 2011 Programs For All Ages

 

Volunteer Training for the Library: This will be a two-part training.  The first will consist of learning how to read shelves, putting books away and general duties of the library.  After 12 hours of working, there will be a second training which will instruct on how to run the desk, library cards, renewals, etc.

Part 1:         Wednesday, October 19  6:30-7:30 p.m.

Part II:       Saturday, January 6, 2012         9:00 a.m.-12:00 noon

 

Children’s Afternoon Tea:  This will be held in the West Hartland Community Center and is offered for children ages 8-12.  It will consist of three offerings of tea with scones, tea sandwiches and a dessert.  Attendees will learn about the history of tea and how the tradition of afternoon tea began.  Etiquette will be discussed and practiced.  Each child will go home with a small remembrance.  Party attire is encouraged!

Fee:   $6.00 per child      Advanced reservations required.

Date: Saturday, October 22, 2011      2:00-4:00 p.m.

 

Children’s Jewelry Making: This will be held in the West Hartland Community Center.  Attendees will learn about beading and have an opportunity to make two different pieces of jewelry.  There are over 750 beads to choose from to make a necklace, earrings or bracelet.

Fee:   $10.00 per child.   Advanced reservations required.

Polar Express at the Hartland Library! For children of all ages!  Children are encouraged to come in their pajamas.  They will have a ticket and a seat on our imaginary train.  Hot Chocolate and cookies will be served while the conductor reads the Polar Express.  Children will present their ticket to the conductor for punching and all will leave with a gift.  Note that there is limited seating for this activity and advanced reservations are required.  W. Hartland Community Center.

Snowdate:    Sunday, December 18th  2-4 p.m.

 

Story Times for ages 3 to 5:  This will consist of a story and activity for the children at the Hartland Library.  There is limited seating and advanced reservations is necessary.  Parents must remain in the building and are expected to help with craft project at 11:00 a.m.  This activity is free.

Dates:         Thursdays from 9/22/11 – to 11/2/11     Time:  10:30-11:15 a.m.

 

Make Greeting Cards with Rubber Stamps with Susan LeClerc:  Both beginners and experienced stampers will have fun creating 8-10 different holiday cards using rubber stamps, patterned paper, punches and ribbon.  This activity will be held in the West Hartland Community Center.  This offering is for adults.

Fee:   $12.00 (includes all supplies)
